A 16-year-old reportedly stabbed his teacher with kitchen knife after she asked him about the English homework at a school in Haryana’s Sonipat. The class 11 student had not finished his homework. So, when his teacher enquired him about the homework, he took out a kitchen knife from his bag and stabbed her in stomach three times. Shocked, the classmates raised an alarm as the teacher writhed in pain.
The accused didn’t even attempt to flee and was handed over to police by the school authorities. A report by The Hindustan Times said that the teacher had scolded the teen on previous occasion because of his rude behaviour.
The report also quoted a teacher who said the accused was short-tempered teen, who would often pick up fights. Sonipat DSP Virender Rao said the student was nabbed and taken into police supervision, an HT report said. Parents of the accused are in state of shock. Meanwhile, the teacher has been admitted to a hospital in Rohtak.
According to an IndiaSpend report, juvenile crimes registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) rose 47%, from 22,740 cases in 2010 to 33,526 cases in 2014, the National Crime Records Bureau said.
