Delhi Woman Checks In Hotel For Friend's Birthday Celebrations, Killed During Drunk Fight

A 33-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her 21-year-old friend at a hotel room in Delhi’s Alipur area on Monday. The woman had booked the hotel room for the birthday celebration of her friend. The man, identified as one Vikki Mann, is also a resident of Alipur area. The woman, was a married to another man, had two children. She and Mann became friends via social media a year ago. They used to frequent the hotel, the staff told the police. In fact, the people working at the hotel also said that the couple had visited the hotel 6-7 times in last one year.

On Monday, the woman and the man checked in the hotel for celebrating Mann’s birthday. They played loud music but the hotel staff didn’t bother them. According to the police, “a PCR call was received around 10.30 am on Tuesday regarding a lady found unconscious in an Oyo hotel. She was shifted in hospital where she was declared brought dead.”

The police further said that, “the room was booked on the name of deceased herself and accused Vikki Mann. As per record both checked in on Monday to celebrate Mann’s birthday. A quarrel took place between them while they were drinking and in course of quarrel, accused hit on lady's throat and she became unconscious. Accused fled away and injured lady was declared brought dead at hospital,” the police statement said.

A team lead by Inspector Sunil Kumar, SHO Alipur, arrested accused on Tuesday itself. Meanwhile, OYO has released a statement expressing deep anguish. “We are extremely saddened by the incident and offer our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. The safety and security of our guests are of paramount importance to us. OYO follows all protocols during check-in of guests including identity proofs and the entries in arrival and departure register. Relevant documents as required by the enforcement authorities have already been handed over to the concerned authorities. Since the matter is under investigation, we are cooperating with the authorities and are providing all possible support,’’ an OYO spokesperson said in a press statement.
