Dumka: 16-Year-Old Girl Asks Help To Reach Home Amid Lockdown, Raped By 10 Including Friend In Jungle

The whole incident happened after she had reached out to a friend asking for help to drop her home amid the lockdown due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

A 16-year-old in Dumka district of Jharkhand has accused ten persons of raping her on March 24. According to the girl, the whole incident happened after she had reached out to a friend asking for help to drop her home amid the lockdown due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. The friend misguided her to take a shortcut through a jungle. While going through the jungle, the boy called his friends who took turns to rape her, the girl claimed. They then left the girl in the jungle in a critical condition.

The incident occurred on March 24. The victim hails from Gopikandar block in Dumka district of Jharkhand. She is studying in Shivpahar and stays in a rented accomodation there. On the day of the incident, she was trying to return home in Gopikandar since her hostel was shut due to the lockdown. One of her friends dropped her at Karudih area in Dumka. The girl then called her father to pick her up. When her father could not reach on time, she called one of her friends to pick her up. She then called up another friend requesting him to drop her to the village.

According to local media reports, the friend suggested a shortcut through the forest claiming that policemen would stop them on main roads due to the lockdown. He stopped near Gadiyapani in the jungle. The girl alleged that the boy excused himself in the name of answering nature's call and then called his friends. They took turns to rape her and then left her there. She spent the whole night there and when managed to reach the main road after regaining consciousness,

"An FIR has been registered Gopikandar Police Station. A Special Investigation Team has been constituted to look into the case and the accused will be nabbed soon," police told ANI.
