A 22-year-old man allegedly killed his father over a property dispute, by strangling and stabbing him, and then chopped up the body into 25 pieces at his home in Shahadra, police said on Wednesday. Aman, who ran a cafe in Burari, had been pressuring his father, Sandesh Aggarwal, to transfer a property in Bholanath Nagar in his name, the police said.

On Monday night an argument broke out between Aggarwal (48), who ran a cosmetic shop in the area, and Aman over the issue. In a fit of rage, Aman strangled him and stabbed him several times, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav said.

He kept Aggarwal’s body at their house in Farsh Bazaar in Shahadra and planned to dispose it later. He took the help of his friend Ayush (22), who is also a partner in his cafe, and they chopped the body, stuffing the 25 pieces in black polythene bags procured from a local chicken shop.

A senior officer said when Agarwal’s younger brother was unable to get in touch with him for more than a day, he filed a complaint on Tuesday night.

“When he insisted, we reached Aggarwal’s house where we saw Aman and Ayush, and a car parked outside the front gate. When we checked the house, we found two bags in which the chopped body was recovered,” the officer said.

Both the accused were arrested, the police said. The incident occurred nearly 300 meters from the deputy commissioner of police’s office.

Aggarwal’s other son, daughter and wife were away in Manali when the incident occurred, police said.

The police said the ties between the father and son were not cordial and the two often had fights. The property issue further aggravated the situation.

“During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that Aman had killed his father in a fit of rage as he used to scold him often,” Yadav said.
