A video of two men being brutally tortured and thrashed for allegedly stealing money in Rajasthan's Nagaur has has become viral on social media. The two men, who were allegedly caught stealing money from a two-wheeler agency, were beaten up by the showroom staffers, police said on Wednesday. Seven people have been detained in connection with the case.

In the video, perpetrators are seen dousing a screwdriver with petrol and inserting it in the rectum of one of the victims. According to reports, the attack took place on February 16 but police registered FIR only on February 19 after videos of the incident went viral. The police have registered an FIR under sections 342 (for wrongful confinement), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 143 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code and various sections of the SC/ST Act.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Ghelot reacted to the video, assuring action and saying that seven accused have been arrested over the crime.

"In the horrific incident in Nagaur, immediate and effective action has been taken and seven accused have been arrested so far. Nobody will be spared. The culprits will be punished according to the law and we will ensure that the victims get justice," Gehlot tweeted.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday termed the torture of two young men as "horrific and sickening" and asked his party government in the state to take immediate action to bring the perpetrators to book.

"The recent video of two young Dalit men being brutally tortured in Nagaur, Rajasthan is horrific and sickening. I urge the state Government to take immediate action to bring the perpetrators of this shocking crime to justice," he said on Twitter.
