Shyam Babu, an eyewitness in the murder case of Mohammad Yusuf -- a relative of former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin -- was on Wednesday shot dead by unknown assailants on motorcycle in Bihar's Siwan.
Mohammad Yusuf was shot dead on February 1 in Siwan's Pratappur village, from where Shahabuddin is. The killing led to protests in the town of Siwan, 162 km from capital Patna.
On March 25, police arrested 53-year-old Mohammad Qayyum -- a resident of Siwan -- for allegedly killing Yusuf over a property dispute in Bihar.
Yusuf was brutally killed by Mohammad Kaif, Raunak, Islam, Maqbool, Sandeep and Qayyum, police said. Owing to the property dispute with Qayyum, family members of both the parties had several altercation in the past.
Qayyum along with Kaif, Raunak, Islam, Maqbool and Sandeep, visited Yusuf's house on the night of February 1 and asked him to accompany them to a party.
They took Yusuf to a secluded place in Siwan, shot him and dumped his body near a mosque.
