A local court in Gujarat’s Surat on Friday convicted self-styled godman Asaram’s son Narayan Sai of rape. The 40-year-old was found guilty of raping two Surat sisters between 2002 and 2005 during their stay in his father Asaram’s Ashram in the city. The quantum of punishment will be announced on April 30.
Narayan Sai was arrested by the police from Haryana in 2013 following a complaint of two Surat sisters against him and his father. While the younger sister had accused Narayan Sai of sexual assault, the elder one had levelled similar allegations against Asaram, who is currently serving life sentence in Jodhpur jail.
On April 2018, Asaram was awarded life sentence under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, for raping a minor girl in Manai village near Jodhpur on August 15, 2013.
