The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) was established to replace the Cambridge School Education Certificate and it took over three decades to reach to its current form. The first ICSE (Class 10th) and ISC (Class 12th) examinations were conducted in the year 1986, in accordance with the New Education Policy 1986.
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) also conducts Certificate of Vocational Education Examination at higher secondary level.
