A biography of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik encompassing his over two decades of political life was unveiled here on Sunday.
The book, titled Naveen Patnaik and penned by Editor of Outlook Ruben Banerjee, was released by former Odisha DGP Amiya Bhushan Tripathy at a function here.
Regarding Patnaik’s journey in Odisha’s political turf, author Banerjee said Naveen Patnaik became a success despite having spent many years outside the state primarily because there was a political vacuum in the state.

Patnaik descended on the political scene at a time when the political class in the state appeared to have been discredited, he said.
The biography refers to Patnaik’s baptism in politics and floating of Biju Janata Dal (BJD), a regional party named after his late father legendary Biju Patnaik.
The book also highlights the achievements in Odisha during the government led by Patnaik since 2000, besides dealing with the factors which played major roles in winning the elections.

Besides giving a description regarding the way Patnaik spent his pre-political years, the book refers to challenges for the 2019 elections too.
