With results for most of the state boards declared by the month of June, all the intermediate or higher secondary pass students must be thinking on how to choose the best career option for a bright and successful future. While some of the youngsters want to become a doctor or engineer, others aspire to be a teacher. If you are among the third lot of students and gearing up to pursue graduation in order to be qualified for B.Ed and other teacher training courses, you are already one step closer towards your dream.

Yes! As per the new National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) rule, students can now directly apply for B.Ed right after passing their Class 12 examinations from any of the recognised boards across the country. Just like engineering and medical courses, aspirants will have to clear the Common Entrance Test (CEE), which is a gateway to various B.Ed institutions all over India. Earlier, it was compulsory for the B.Ed aspirants to complete their graduation with at least 60 per cent marks. However, there were exemption in marks for female and SC/ST students.

Name of B.Ed courses and eligibility:

-Those who passed their Class 12th examination with minimum 60 per cent marks are eligible to seat for the Common Entrance Test (CEE).

-Students who will clear the exam will be offered various courses like integrated B.Ed course, B.Ed for 2 years and MSc.Ed course. However, the 2 years B.Ed course and the MSc.Ed course are only applicable for those who have completed their bachelors with a minimum 60 per cent marks.

-The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of 80 per cent marks of the CEE and 20 per cent of the Class 12thexamination or graduation.
