National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the revised dates for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2019 exam in Odisha. According to a release, the NEET exam will be held on 20th May. Earlier, the exam - which was scheduled to be held on May 5 - was postponed in the wake of Cyclone Fani which has left the state massively devastated.
According to the release, the centres of exam will remain the same and the revised admit cards will be issued shortly.
Meanwhile, AIIMS Delhi has announced cancellation of Bhubaneswar as a centre for the AIIMS PG 2019 examination due to cyclone 'Fani'.
"AIIMS PG exam is scheduled on 5th May. Due to cyclone Fani, AIIMS Delhi is cancelling the exam centre in Bhubaneswar. Another exam will be conducted for students affected by this cancellation as soon as normalcy returns (sic)," Union Health Secretary Preeti Sudan had tweeted.
According to sources, a part of the roof of a building at AIIMS Bhubaneswar was also ripped off in the cyclonic storm, but all students, staff and patients were learnt to be safe.The cyclone rolled through Odisha on Friday, packing rain and windstorm that gusted up to 175 kmph, leaving at least eight people dead, blowing away thatched houses, and swamping towns and villages.
Around 15 lakh students are appearing for the NEET 2019 competitive exam this year for admission to the different medical courses in India and abroad. Candidates appearing for the NEET 2019 are advised to download their revised admit cards that carry the details of their updated exam centres or venue, address and the code.There are seven centres in Odisha for NEET 2019. The centres are Angul, Balasore/Baleswar, Behrampur, Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Sambalpur.
