Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI)'s Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) on Thursday began its admission process inviting applications from candidates who aspire to get into the UPSC Civil Services examination. The academy is known for delivering quality coaching and producing good ranks in different Civil Services Examination since its inception. So far, Jamia's RCA has produced as many as 190 civil servants along with 245 other central and provincial officers across the country. Junaid Ahmad, who secured third rank in 2018 Civil Services, is also an alumnus of JMI's Residential Coaching Academy.

The interested candidates are advised to apply online for admission to JMI's Residential Coaching Academy till June 25, 2019. The centre has made the application from available at its official website that is www.jmicoe.in.

After the successful registration, candidates need to appear for a written test which consists of General Studies (objective type) on UPSC model and essay writing in English, Hindi and Urdu. For each wrong answer in the objective section, candidates will be awarded 1/3 negative marks.

The examination will take place on July 7 between 10 am and 1 pm at 12 centres across India. The places include Delhi, Srinagar, Jammu, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Bombay, Lucknow, Guwahati, Patna, Bengaluru, Trivandrum and Chennai.

The RCA will declare the results for entrance test on July 30 and is scheduled to conduct the second and final round of interview for qualifying candidates between August 5 and 10, 2019. The final results mentioning the name of successful candidates will be released on August 20, 2019.

Followed by the declaration of the results, the academy will complete the admission process by August 27, 2019. In case there is any vacancy, the admission process for waiting list candidates will take place between August 28 and August 30, 2019.

The selected candidates will have to attend their Orientation Class on September 3, 2019 around 11 am at the campus. Candidates may also avail scholarships upto Rs 2,000 per month on means-cum-merit basis. Furthermore, 200 students belonging to minorities, SCs, STs and women (of all communities) will be provided with free coaching with hostel facility.

UPSC Civil Services Examination 2019:

This year, UPSC Civil Services Prelims Examination is scheduled to be held on June 2 in order to fill up 896 vacancies across the country. Early in the month, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the admit card for UPSC CSE prelims examination 2019. The commission has made the hall tickets available at its official websites that are upsc.gov.in or upsconline.nic.in.

The UPSC CSE preliminary exam comprises General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II, which carry a total of 200 marks each. In order to qualify in the CSE examination, candidates will have to score 33 per cent marks in the Paper II. The other two phases include the main examination consisting of nine papers of conventional (essay) type and a personality test (interview).

The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a nationwide competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various Civil Services of the Government of India, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) among others.
