Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE introduced stricter guidelines for a change of school for reasons such as better education.
In the circular dated April 5, 2019, the board has enlisted the documents the parents and schools would have to provide for direct admissions in Classes 10 and 12, reported Times Now
Transfer orders of the parents, new address proof, documents supporting admission on medical grounds are required to seek admission.
For students planning to shift for ‘better education’, not only would the parents be required to furnish the requisite documents, the schools (both admitting and leaving school) would also be required to attach the records of CBSE Board Results of the previous 5 years.
Schools would also be required to furnish the qualifications and teaching experience to provide comparative proof of the stipulation.
The board points out that many students shift their schools citing various reasons. While the board acknowledges shifting of family and distance as reasons for the change, it brings to notice reasons like better education, etc. The board advises all students that in case they so desire, they must change their schools in classes 9 and 11 instead of class 10 and 12.
The Board's reason for not acknowledging changing schools in 10 or 12 is that the board initiates the registration process for board examinations from classes 9 and 11 respectively. Candidates who change school in class 10 and 12 make the board undertake more paper work leaving chances of error due to transfer.
Teachers and schools have highlighted that the stricter guidelines were perhaps required as many students migrate to other school when their existing sschools refuse to promote students due to board examination in classes 10 and 12.
Last date to apply for the change and direct admissions in class 10 and 12 is July 15, 2019.
