According to the official notification, the Skill Course will be offered as an additional 6th subject along-with the other 5 compulsory subjects at Secondary Level. Now, if any student fail in any of the subjects (I.e. Science, Mathematics and Social Science), then it will be replaced by the Skill Subject that is offered as the 6th Subject. Hence, the CBE Class 10 Board Exam Result will be evaluated on the basis of best 5 subjects. Meanwhile, if a student wants to reappear for the failed subject exam, he/she can appear for the compartmental exam.

Further, CBSE has encouraged senior secondary schools to follow the same rule and offer at-least 1 skill based subject out of the 40 other subjects that are offered as elective subjects.
