New Delhi:

The registration for Delhi University admission 2017 in various undergraduate courses began on Monday. The online registration saw around 200 entries within 10 minutes after it was thrown open to the public on the first day.

This year DU online portal will open resigstration for admissions to merit-based courses in Delhi University colleges. Over 40,000 people have registered online for admissions to Delhi University's undergraduate programmes since Monday.

The online registrations for admissions to undergraduate programmes began on Monday at 6 pm for its 60 UG courses in 62 colleges affiliated with the varsity with around 54,000 seats. It will continue till June 12.

"We have received a very good response in one day. The total number of applicants who have registered so far are 40,143," OSD Admissions Ashutosh Bhardwaj said in a release.

This year, seven transgenders have applied for admissions while last year, 15 transgenders had applied out of which two or three got admission, a source in the admissions department said.

Out of the total 40,143 registrations, 28,864 students have filled the personal details section. Of that 19,436 belong to unreserved category, 5,844 to OBC (Non Creamy Layer,Central List), 2,783 to Scheduled Caste and 801 to Scheduled Tribe, a release by the university said.

BA (Hons) English, BCom(Hons), BA(Hons) Economics, BA Programme continues to be much preferred courses.

The second day of the university's 10-day counselling session or 'Open Days' continued to attract much crowd with around 600 parents and students taking part in the session.

The varsity is scheduled to announce its first cut-off list on June 20. As of now, six cut-off dates have been announced. However, further cut-off lists may be announced depending on vacant seats in colleges. Applicants for some subjects like Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Business Administration (Financial Investment Analysis), BA (Hons) Business Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Multimedia and Mass Communication, BTech (Information Technology and Mathematical Innovations) have to appear for entrance test.
