The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea to postpone the exam date of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2017 (NEET). NEET 2017 is scheduled to be held on May 7.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had recently issued a notification announcing that the NEET UG exam 2017 will be conducted on May 7. A plea was filed in Supreme Court seeking postponement of NEET 2017.

Aspirants who want to take admissions for undergraduate courses of medical and dental seats across colleges which have approval from Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India (DCI) will now have to clear the NEET examination.

All-India quota, state government quota, management/ NRI quota and central pool quota will be the four categories on the basis of which the seats will be classified. 

The NEET UG exam 2017 will comprise of a single paper of three-hour duration and 180 multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. 

The date for exam were announced too late and aspirants waited for it since December.
