In a shocking incident, a student from Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) slapped and physically assaulted his professor on Friday evening for scoring low marks.
The student attacked his professor Ashwani Kumar, at SRCC's global business operations in Delhi University after he scored very low marks in internal examination. The student kicked teachers car and slapped him several times after which the Professor left the city.
"The student - who fought with Ashwani and slapped him - holds a record of irregularity in academics. The incident took place in the parking area and in the presence of the college principal R P Rustagi," said professor Alok Kumar, calling it a heinous crime.
"The professor was punched and slapped a few times by the student, who ran away from the spot after the incident," said RP Rustagi, the officiating principal of the college. He said the assult took place around 5.30pm. "A few teachers and I accompanied professor Ashwani to the police station to lodge an FIR. Further action will be decided by the disciplinary committee," he said.
The assistant professor has lodged an FIR against the student at Maurice Nagar police station after the incident, on Friday evening. According to police officials, an FIR under Section 341 and 506 has been lodged against the student for wrongful restraint and criminal intimidation.
"We have registered an FIR on Friday against a student from SRCC's management programme, based on the complaint of the professor, who was accompanied by the principal. The reports of beating are false, as the FIR filed by the professor does not mention it," said Jatin Narwal, SHO at university's Maurice Nagar police station.
