With an offer of Rs 1.14 crore for an international profile, IT giant Microsoft has yet again emerged as the highest recruiter in the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B)’s placement drive this year on Day One. This $164,000, or Rs 1.14 crore package offered by Microsoft is the highest salary that any students have been offered till now, according to a Hindustan Times report. However, if compared to IIT Bombay’s placement season last year, this year’s Rs 1 crore package is comparatively lower than the $ 214,000 offer made by a-US based company.

On the first day of the placement session, a total of 21 companies made offers to the students. Microsoft was one company that made both domestic and international offers. Among other companies that offered the highest number of domestic jobs was Strategy & Cairn, Qualcomm and BCG. Making its debut in the institute, Cohesity was among other companies such as Optiver, Uber, Rubrik and NEC Japan that offered international roles.

Blackstone, a financial service firm offered the highest domestic offer of Rs 45 lakh per annum, followed by analytical firm Worldquant, that offered Rs 42.87 per annum for a domestic role. Among top international recruiters were NEC Japan that offered a Rs 28.17 lakh per annum (458,300 Yen) package, according to the report.

Microsoft also offered a highest domestic salary of Rs 4.7 million, even as it made a maximum number of 25 and over 20 offers including domestic and international at IIT Madras and IIT Guwahati, among others on day one of the final placements. Last year, Microsoft Redmond had offered a total highest international package of $214,600 including a base salary of $108,000 and a performance bonus of $ 21,600, apart from other benefits such as stock options, according to a report in Business Standard.

Microsoft made a total of 22 offers at IIT Roorkee, of which three are for international roles. Before the final placement session, Microsoft made 9 pre-placement offers to IIT Roorkee students. The highest package offered by Microsoft for a domestic profile was Rs 47 lakh per annum.
