All Schools In Lucknow To Remain Closed Today Due To Heavy Downpour

Due to continuous incessant rain, the District administration of Lucknow on Thursday announced that all school in the area would remain closed today i.e. September 27, 2019. The School holiday was announced for today for classes nursery to 12.

On Twitter, District Magistrate, Lucknow, Kaushal Raj Sharma said, "Due to inclement weather, schools from nursery to class 12 will be closed on September 27.” “However, the nomination process for the polls will continue tomorrow," the magistrate said referring to the nomination process for bye-elections for Lucknow Cant.

Lucknow has been witnessing rains for the past several days.

On the other hand, in Pune, at least 17 people were killed in various incidents of flooding and wall collapse after intense rainfall battered in the city and various other parts of the district, officials said on Thursday. Nearly 16,000 people, including some stuck-on rooftops and trees, were rescued from Pune city and other parts of the district, they said, adding that four persons were missing.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he was pained to know about the loss of lives due to heavy rains in Pune. He said teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were deployed in the city and Baramati tehsil, and all necessary assistance was being provided in the affected areas.

Schools and colleges in various tehsils of Pune declared a holiday on Thursday in view of the deluge.
