The Uttar Pradesh budget for 2019-20 has made a provision of Rs 26.57 crore to set up Sainik schools and Rs 242 crore Sanskrit 'pathshalas' (schools) in order to encourage education of the language in the state.
Another Rs 30 crore has been earmarked a grant to aided Sanskrit schools and degree colleges.
The government has also made a budgetary provision of Rs 10 crore to set up government intercolleges (both boys and girls) in the state. A provision of Rs 10 crore for setting up an Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Lucknow, Finance Minister Rajesh Agarwal said in his budget speech.
This was Yogi Adityanath’s government third budget after having come to power in March 2017. The total budgetary allocations made for the financial year 2019-20 was Rs 4.79 lakh crore, which is 12 per cent higher than the previous year’s budget.
The Yogi government has also allocated Rs 50 crore for wi-fi facility in all the colleges and universities. A provision of Rs 160 crore for various works under the National Higher Education Campaign.
