West Bengal Government has taken the decision to promote school WB Board students of Class 1 to Class 8 to the next grade without any exams. Partha Chatterjee, West Bengal Education Minister said that students of these classes will be promoted to the next grade and no student of these classes will be detained by WBBSE affiliated schools. The policy of promotion of school students is applicable to students from class 1 to 8 only. Apart from this, West Bengal Government is working on a mechanism to start online classes for students of Class 9 to Class 12 through mails and video conferencing.
West Bengal School Students To Be Promoted
Earlier, West Bengal Schools and colleges were shut down and all examinations were postponed amid the outbreak of Coronavirus. At present, the country is going through the phase of complete lockdown and the postponed exams will be rescheduled after the lockdown period is over.

In the meantime, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and many other states have taken the decision to promote school students of Class 1 to Class 8 without exams. Recently, CBSE has also issued an official notification stating that students of Class 1 to Class 8 will be promoted to the next grade, and students of class 9 and class 11 will be promoted based on school-based assessments.
At this point of time, everyone is advised to stay at home and follow all precautionary measures to combat the issue of COVID-19 Pandemic. Some schools and colleges have already started delivering online teaching through various technological mediums and hopefully all schools will follow the same in due course of time until the lockdown period gets over.
