Delhi University admission process 2019 delayed.

New Delhi:

The admission process for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Delhi University (DU) may begin from May 1. The admissions were earlier scheduled to begin by April 15, 2019. However, as the university’s admission committee is still working on the changes it would make in the process, it has led to the delay in the admissions.

The DU admission committee, on March 15, had announced that the admission process would begin by April 15 and it would end by May 7. Mr. Rajeev Gupta, Dean of Student Welfare said, ''The registration process for the university will, most likely, start from May 1 as the officials are yet to complete the preparations. We will, soon, come up with the revised schedule once we are ready with our changed policies and procedures.''

Talking about the reason for the delay in the admission process, a committee member of the university said that the university is still working on collecting all the database of the students registered with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). ''The mark sheets and certificates can be acquired directly once and if we are able to get the database of the students making the process a lot more clear. The process of getting the database is still underway'', the official said.

A senior DU official said that it’s better to start the registration process for admissions late. ''We will only be able to start admissions after the CBSE results, which won’t be declared before the third week of May. So there is no point of starting the registration early,'' he said.

DU's admission committee has already announced some changes in the admission process from this year such as reducing marks for a change of stream from 5% to 2% and starting the ECA and sports quota admissions ahead of the release of cut-off lists. The trail for Sports and ECA Category admissions will begin on May 20.
