JNUSU Elections: Aishe Ghosh Elected New President As Left Front Bags All 4 Central Panel Posts

SFI's Aishe Ghosh was elected as the new Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union president as United Left bagged all the four central panel posts in the University's student union polls. Ghosh, 2,313 votes, defeated Manish Jangid of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), who got just 1,128 votes.

The Left grouping's Saket Moon was elected JNUSU vice president. He defeated ABVP's Shruti Agnihotri by 2010 votes. Satish Chandra Yadav, 2,518 votes, became the new general secretary by defeating his closest rival Sabareesh PA, who also got 1355 votes.

All India Students’ Association or AISA's Md Danish was elected joint secretary with 3,295 votes. Danish defeated Sumanta Kumar Sahu.

The results of the JNU Students Union polls were announced on Tuesday after getting the approval from Delhi High Court. The high court had earlier put restrictions on the results of the JNUSU polls after the record turnout.

The voter turnout in the JNUSU elections, held on Friday, was recorded at 67.9 per cent. It was believed that the turnout was the highest in the last  seven years. Over 5,700 students cast their votes in the JNU Studens Union elections.
