Himachal Pradesh CM’s announcement about electricity, bus fare, & water is a half-hearted attempt to copy the Kejriwal model of governance. Calling this charade of the BJP out, AAP National Convenor and Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal stated – If BJP does not announce similar schemes for all BJP-ruled states, people will know that it is doing so out of fear of the AAP and that it will back out of implementing it after the elections. AAP Senior Leader and Delhi Deputy CM Shri Manish Sisodia added – If a single Kejriwal roadshow in Mandi can get these benefits, imagine how much more they can get if the AAP wins a full majority in Himachal Pradesh. People of Himachal should not fall for BJP’s trap because it will go back on its promises if it wins the elections like always. Announcing these decisions just ahead of elections means BJP is highly anxious about its probable defeat in Himachal Pradesh. Those who mocked the Kejriwal Government’s free electricity & water policies are now feeling compelled to promise the same to people in Himachal Pradesh in order to win.
Senior AAP Leader and Delhi Deputy CM Shri Manish Sisodia said, “The BJP and its leaders are so afraid of losing the assembly elections to Aam Aadmi Party in Himachal Pradesh that they are half-heartedly attempting to copy the Kejriwal model of governance ahead of the elections. Earlier we were under the impression that BJP is just scared of the Aam Aadmi Party. But their announcements today have made it clear that they are dreading an embarrassing defeat against AAP in Himachal Pradesh,”
He highlighted how it has just taken a single roadshow by Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal in Mandi for the people of Himachal Pradesh to get all these benefits. “Their announcements are just an attempt to copy the Kejriwal model of governance. Do they fear Shri Arvind Kejriwal so much? He simply led one roadshow in Mandi. Has the BJP become so terrified of AAP that they are forced to half-heartedly copy the schemes of the Aam Aadmi Party?”
On the announcements by BJP, Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal dared the BJP to announce these decisions for all the states where it is in power and not just restrict it to Himachal Pradesh. In a tweet, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “BJP should announce this in all BJP-ruled states. Otherwise, people will believe that because of the fear of AAP, these fake announcements have been made before the elections, they will be taken back after the elections.”v
Shri Manish Sisodia further said, “Imagine that if a single roadshow by Kejriwal can bring these benefits to Himachal, imagine how much more the people of the state can get if an AAP government based on the Kejriwal model of governance comes to power in Himachal Pradesh. The BJP has always been opposed to providing people with cheaper services and has warned Himachal Pradesh voters not to fall into their trap. Despite ruling in 18 states, the BJP has never made electricity free or cheaper in any of them. Instead, they repeatedly argue that it should not be free and mock us for giving everything away for free. They continue to claim that freebies are anti-national, and they also use the Union government to claim that freebies will cause problems.”
The party has however forgotten its own stand on the issue and has just announced its decision with the aim to deceive people of Himachal Pradesh.
On its announcements in the hill state, Shri Manish Sisodia asked the BJP why they have not implemented free electricity and water in any other state if they are in favour of it. “They have governments in 18 states, so why not start there? The announcement of this measure just 2-3 months before elections indicates that the BJP is aware that it is losing the state. I request that the people of Himachal take this into consideration. People should understand that the BJP's announcements are merely a show of force; the BJP is a corrupt party that does not believe in providing any services to the people. Don't fall for their ruse. It is only AAP's fear that has compelled them to make this announcement. If they retake power, they will reverse all of this and instead raise prices, as they have in other states where they have ruled.”
Shri Manish Sisodia concluded by saying that people of Himachal also know BJP’s announcements carry no weight. “People know these announcements by BJP have no meaning, BJP as a party is against cheaper electricity. If somehow they win, they will withdraw these announcements. They have no intentions to implement this, it has just been announced with the intent of winning elections,” he said.
