Aam Aadmi Party took out padyatras in all 272 wards of Delhi against BJP's blatant extortion today. The party held a dialogue with the local residents through the padyatra and noticed that the public is furious because of the BJP's hooliganism. AAP will soon team up with the people of Delhi to fight against BJP's Gunda Raj and corruption. On the occasion, AAP Senior Leader and MLA Ms Atishi said, "BJP leaders are barging into people's homes and extorting money from them saying they'll demolish their houses & shops. We want to reinforce that all of AAP's top leadership and MLAs are there to fight for Delhiites. We will not let BJP harass a single resident."
During the padyatra, the Aam Aadmi Party stated, "for the last few days, the Bharatiya Janata Party has created an atmosphere of rioting and goondaism in Delhi. They are threatening Delhiites, extorting money in the name of bulldozing homes. The BJP is oppressing the poor. The term of BJP councilors is ending on May 18, due to which they want to amass as much ill-gotten wealth as they can."
Today all Aam Aadmi Party workers held a public dialogue on the sidelines of the padyatra. There was a wave of anger among the people because of the BJP-ruled MCD's harassment and tyranny. Most of the people said that the BJP is constantly threatening them saying 'pay up if we will get your house demolished'. Seeing BJP's rampant hooliganism, the AAP has decided to fight back and protect the people from the extortion. AAP MLAs have been directed to keep an eye out and catch hold of the extortions.
Senior AAP Leader and MLA Ms Atishi said, “The BJP is threatening the people of Delhi in broad daylight with its bulldozer politics. They go door to door, to shops and restaurants, and intimidate people. They directly threaten innocent residents with demolition if they are not given the money they demand, and this flagrant extortion by the BJP councillors has become ever increasing in the past few days.”
She added, “Today, the Aam Aadmi Party staunchly opposes BJP’s shameless petty politics tainted with corruption, extortion, hooliganism, and misgovernance. We are hence organising _Padyatras_ across Delhi, bringing everyone together to come forward to rise up against BJP’s hate mongering and money minded schemes. Through these Padyatras, we wish to send a message to all Delhiites that the Aam Aadmi Party and all its MLAs stand with them against BJP’s blatant extortion and demolition threats and its despicable bulldozer politics. There is no need for them to be afraid of BJP’s bullying and intimidation.”
