Arvind Kejriwal assures campaign for BJP if Delhi granted full statehood before 2019

New Delhi:

In a clarion call, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday urged the Aam Aadmy Party (AAP) workers to join his 'L-G, Delhi Chodo' campaign ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The AAP leader, who has been leading a citywide campaign for full statehood to Delhi, has made sure that each and every vote from the national capital will go in BJP's favour if the later approves their demand.

He has also assured campaign for Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in case Delhi is granted statehood before 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing the legislators at Delhi assembly, the CM said, "I want to tell BJP that if before 2019 Elections, Delhi is granted statehood, we'll make sure that each and every vote from Delhi goes in your favour, we'll campaign for you".

"If you don't do so Delhi residents will put up boards saying 'BJP leave Delhi'," Kejriwal added while addressing on the last day of the special session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly.

The AAP government called the special session of the Delhi Assembly to press its demand for full statehood to Delhi. 

On Sunday, in a similar passionate address at his residence, the Delhi CM said Mahatma Gandhi had launched Quit India campaign during the British rule, and AAP will run 'L-G, Delhi Chodo' campaign. Earlier this week, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had tabled a government resolution in this regard.

The clarion call for full statehood to Delhi came ahead of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled in 2019. According to party sources, the ruling party in Delhi is planning to strongly raise the statehood issue during the Lok Sabha elections.
