The Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) star candidate Atishi, who is contesting Lok Sabha election from East Delhi, on Friday filed a criminal complaint in Tis Hazari Court against her rival and BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir claiming he has two voter cards in two separate neighbourhoods in the city.
In a series of tweets, Atishi said that it is a criminal matter and called for immediate disqualification of Gautam Gambhir. The AAP candidate alleged that the cricketer-turned-politician has two voter IDs of Rajendra Nagar and Karol Bagh, and he faces upto one year in prison for this offence. "We have filed a criminal complaint in Tis Hazari Court against Gambhir," she concluded.

In the meantime, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal took to a Twitter and said that voters should not waste their vote on someone who will get disqualified soon.

On April 22, BJP fielded former cricketer Gautam Gambhir from East Delhi Lok Sabha seat. The 37-year-old cricketer has replaced sitting BJP MP Mahesh Giri. The former opening batsman will be contesting against Congress candidate Arvinder Singh Lovely and Aam Aadmi Party’s Atishi from the East Delhi parliamentary constituency.
Gambhir was recently conferred upon the Padma Shri award. After joining the party, the BJP candidate had said that he was impressed by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will work for the country's welfare as a member of the party. Â
On the other hand, Atishi worked as Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia's adviser before she was asked to take charge of the East Delhi constituency. The AAP candidate was involved in drafting the manifesto of AAP in the 2015 Delhi election. She studied at the Oxford University and Delhi's St Stephens.
The Lok Sabha Elections 2019 are being held in seven phases, starting from April 11. The first, second and third phase has been concluded. The fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh phase of polls will undergo on April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19 respectively. To be specific, East Delhi and six others in the national capital will vote on May 12 in sixth phase. The results will be declared on May 23.
