Achhe din more elusive: Akhilesh Yadav's dig at Modi over Army's yeti spotting claim

People on social media mocked the Yeti claim by Indian Army.

When Indian Army claimed that its team has spotted the "mysterious footprints of the mythical beast Yeti", people on social media were divided with most in disbelief and mocking the claims. While for many, the claim of sighting 'Yeti footprints' looked nothing but funny, it was a perfect opportunity for Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav to take a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his 2014 promise of "Acchhe Din".

"It seems that "Acche Din" are more elusive than the #Yeti," former Uttar Pradesh cheif minister Akhilesh Yadav tweeted today.

Earlier in the day, Army had said that its Moutaineering Expedition Team sighted footprints of 'Yeti' close to Makalu Base Camp on April 9, claiming that the "elusive snowman" had only been seen at Makalu-Barun National Park in the past.1

"For the first time, an #IndianArmy Moutaineering Expedition Team has sited Mysterious Footprints of mythical beast 'Yeti' measuring 32x15 inches close to MakaluBase Camp on 09 April 2019. This elusive snowman has only been sighted at Makalu-Barun National Park in the past," the Indian Army tweeted.

The yeti - a giant ape-like creature - said to be found at Himalayas often figures in Indian folklore. Although, there is no evidence of Yeti's existance but the myth remains strong in the south Asia country. Reacting to the social media reactions, Army said that the "evidence" about the yeti had been "photographed" and "handed over to subject matter experts".

Meanwhile, experts and scientists have said that there was no evidence to back the Indian Army's claim as the footprints do not explain all and could be of bear or snow leopard.
