Alka Lamba, AAP MLA, likely to return to Congress. This is what she said

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Alka Lamba on Friday said that she would be happy to go back to the Congress if such a proposal comes her way. AAP's Chandni Chowk MLA, however, clarified that she had not approached anyone. 

Lamba started her political career with National Students' Union of India (NSUI) when she was just 19-year-old. She was elected the Delhi University Students’ Union president (DUSU) in 1995. Lamba went on to join the party and was made the general secretary of All India Mahila Congress in 2002.

She joined Arvind Kejriwal's party in 2013 and won the Chandni Chowk seat in the Delhi assembly in 2015.

Alka Lamba is reportedly at loggerheads with AAP after the Kejriwal-led party's decision to pass a resolution to revoke former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi's Bharat Ratna. She had raised objections to the party's resolution. Later, she claimed in December that the AAP had asked her to resign for protesting the alleged proposal.

Earlier, Lamba alleged that the party leadership was ‘weakening’ her and said she is being accused of attempting to switch over to the Congress.

However, the AAP recently said Lamba said it has no desire to remove its Lamba. "The party has no intention of removing her. It is very easy for a party to suspend people. We even took back people after suspension when we found that they have changed," AAP spokesman Saurabh Bhardwaj told IANS. 

"You have to follow certain discipline and decorum in the party or for that matter in any organisation," he added.
