In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed a wide spectrum of politicians, sportsmen, journalists and filmstars -- from Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee to Virat Kohli, Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal, to help him bring more people out to vote in the April-May national election.
PM Modi has urged Bollywood celebrities to help him bring more people out to vote in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. Writing to them, he said, 'Many youngsters admire you. It is time to tell them: Apna Time Aa Gaya Hai and that it is time to turn up with high Josh to a voting centre near you'
My young friends @RanveerOfficial, @Varun_dvn & @vickykaushal09,
Many youngsters admire you.
It is time to tell them: Apna Time Aa Gaya Hai and that it is time to turn up with high Josh to a voting centre near you.— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 13, 2019
In his blog, PM Modi said the election is an “occasion for celebration†while asserting that “not voting causes great anguishâ€.
“Would you want a situation where something happens in the country that you disapprove of and you are forced to think - because I did not go vote that day, this unfortunate situation has arisen and the nation is suffering,†reads PM Modi’s latest blog.
“Spare yourself from that regret and go vote,†advises the prime minister, who also said that by voting, people connect themselves with the country’s dreams and aspirations.
The “four requestsâ€, as put out by PM Narendra Modi, are for the eligible voters to get themselves registered, make sure their names figure in the list of electoral rolls, plan their voting schedule to make sure they use franchise and to mobilise friends and families to vote in large numbers.
