Amid speculaion over forging an alliance with Aam Aadmin Party (AAP), Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday said his party will contest on all the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi alone. "There will be no tie-up and the Congress will go it alone on all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi," Gandhi said while addressing a party meeting in New Delhi.
On Saurday, Delhi Congress president Sheila Dikshit met senior party leader Sonia Gandhi and rejected the issue of alliance with the ruling AAP for the Lok Sabha polls. However, there were speculation that the issue of alliance with the AAP in Delhi was discussed during the meeting. “The decision (against alliance with AAP) after meeting Rahul Gandhi still continues, that is all,” Dikshit told news agency PTI when asked whether the alliance issue came up during her meeting with Sonia Gandhi.
Last week, Dikshit had announced that it would not form an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party in the national capital. "A unanimous decision has been taken that there will be no alliance in Delhi," Dikshit had said. The announcement by the former Delhi chief minister had come following a meeting with the Congress president.
