The Congress on Tuesday appointed Rana Goswami, Dhiraj Gurjar and Rohit Chaudhary as UP West who will closely work with party's region General Secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia. Besides, Zubair Khan, Kumar Ashish and Bajirao Khade have also been appointed as AICC secretaries for UP East of which Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is the in-charge. Priyanka Gandhi (47) and Scindia (48) took charge as AICC general secretary UP East and UP West respectively last month. Pilot, 41, was made deputy CM of Rajasthan in December 2018 after the Congress wrested power from BJP.
Priyanka has been given the responsibility of 41 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state by Congress president and her brother Rahul Gandhi. Among the constituencies placed under Priyanka’s charge were the key seats of Gorakhpur – considered to be stronghold of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Varanasi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency, Phulpur – a constituency once represented by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Allahabad, Lucknow, Amethi, Raebareli, Sultanpur, Barabanki, and Kushinagar.
Rahul Gandhi (48) took charge as Congress chief in December 2017.
