The Seva Dal, grassroots front organisation of the Congress, will hold a two-day national meet on February 13 and 14 in Rajasthan’s Ajmer and it will be attended by party president Rahul Gandhi. The party will hold the convention after 35 years – former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was the last Congress president to hold the meeting. Lalji Desai, who was appointed as chief organiser of the All India Congress Seva Dal, said members of the Seva Dal from across the country will participate in the meeting.
He said the two-day meet will be held in Rajasthan and thereafter, the young brigade of the front will take out a bike rally across the country in February and March.
Sources told News Nation that Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his deputy Sachin Pilot will attend the convention on the first day, while Rahul Gandhi will join them next day.
To counter the rising assertiveness of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in national politics and connect with the masses, the Congress has revamped one of its oldest and key frontal organisation.
