AAP releases Lok Sabha poll manifesto for Delhi, reiterates full statehood demand

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia release Aam Aadmi Party's Delhi manifesto

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released its manifesto for Delhi on Thursday for the Lok Sabha Elections on Thursday and reiterated the full statehood demand. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and other senior ministers of the party were present when the manifesto was released. During the release of the manifesto, Kejriwal said, "The 2019 election is to save nation, save Constitution. We are Indians first, then Hindu or Muslim."

The party reiterated its demand for full statehood for Delhi and named its manifesto 'Lekar Rahenge Poorn Rajya' (We Will Take Full Statehood). "AAP will gain full statehood for Delhi...the seven seats of delhi will play a key role in forming the government at the Centre," says Kejriwal. "Most of the problems related to women security, health, pollution and corruption persist in Delhi because the state government's hands are tied by the Centre which controls everything," Kejriwal said.

"Today, India's unity is under threat. Thats why this year is not about any single party's manifesto but about saving the country from divisive forces." Our unity is being challenged. Country can be saved only if we don't get divided across religion and caste lines,  Kejriwal had said. He said, "We will do anything to stop Modi-Shah duo. Will support any 'mahagathbandhan' government. The 2019 election is to save nation, save Constitution. We are Indians first, then Hindu or Muslim."

He also launched an attack on the Congress and said, "Launching an attack on the Congress, the party chief says, "If Congress was in a position of winning seven seats, we would have left seven seats for them. But the party is not even in the position to win a single seat. It will not get any Hindu votes and the Muslims are a bit confused." Sharpening his attack, Kejriwal added, "I am saying this with a lot of sadness, if Modi-Shah come back to power, only Rahul gandhi will be responsible."
