Delhi Opinion Poll: Narendra Modi gets massive approval for PM's post, Rahul Gandhi trails behind

49 per cent of Delhiites voted for Narendra Modi as their preferred PM candidate

The recent defeats of the BJP at the hands of the Congress party in its traditional strongholds like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh may not affect the latter’s performance in Delhi for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha election, predicted News Nation’s Opinion Poll. According to the opinion poll, the Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to get 39 per cent of vote share whereas the Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party might end up getting 31 per cent of vote share. The Congress party may get 15 per cent of vote share.

However, the BJP might not be able to repeat its 2014 Lok Sabha performance when the party won all 7 Lok Sabha seats. This time, the party might lose one seat against the Aam Admi Party (AAP) taking the BJP tally to 6, AAP 1 and Congress 0.

As far as the most preferred prime ministerial candidate is concerned, it seems that the Modi Magic is still working in the national capital. 49 per cent of Delhiites voted for Narendra Modi whereas Congress president Rahul Gandhi trailed behind with only 19 per cent votes.

When asked about the issues on which the people of Delhi will cast their votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha poll 2019, 36 per cent of people voted for jobs, 16 per cent voted for inflation, 12 per cent for corruption, 10 per cent for water, electricity and roads.

In 2015, the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) slogan ‘paanch saal Kejriwal’ found such resonance in Delhi that the party ended up rewriting electoral history by winning 67 of the 70 Assembly seats. During the News Nation Opinion Poll, we asked the people of Delhi whether they are happy with the performance of Aam Aadmi Party. 56 per cent of people expressed their satisfaction whereas 28 per cent Delhiites said that they are not satisfied with the work of the state government.

On the performance of the central government, 49 per cent of people said that they are not happy with the work whereas 31 per cent showed their satisfaction.

Is Modi government giving a befitting reply to China and Pakistan? On this question, 27 per cent people said 'Yes' while 52 per cent said 'No'. 48 per cent people said that the Narendra Modi-led government's prime focus is politics and 48 per cent said the government is focused on the development.
