Exclusive: FIR should be filed against PM Modi, demands Randeep Surjewala over Arunachal cash controversy

New Delhi:

Senior Congress leader and party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala has demanded an FIR against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Arunachal Pradesh cash controversy. In an exclusive chat with News Nation, Surjewala said that the police should file an FIR against the PM and the Lokpal must take cognizance over the issue. “Even as PM Modi addressed an election rally in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh today, a sensational ‘Cash for Vote Scandal’ is exposed where authorities found Rs. 1.8 crore from the convoy of BJP CM Pema Khandu and BJP Arunachal Pradesh President Tapir Gao,” Surjewala said in a press conference in Delhi earlier in morning.

However, Khandu outrightly rejected the allegations and said, “it's absolutely wrong. ‘Cash for Vote’ is rather practiced by Congress party. Investigation under Election Commission will reveal all the details. We have got the info that it has been recovered from a BJP candidate's car.”

In a detailed statement over the issue Congress taled about some local media reports also. “A midnight raid on the convoy of BJP’s Arunachal Pradesh, CM Shri PemaKhandu, Deputy CM, Shri Chowna Mein and BJP Arunachal President, Shri Tapir Gao has found Rs 1.8 Crore in stacks of hard cash that exposes the brazen corruption and poll violation, as PM Modi holds a rally in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh at 10:00 AM today. Sensational Videos on Social Media have emerged where cash is being counted by police officers in the presence of Election Commission’s Expenditure Officer Smt Samrita Kaur Gill (IRS. The cash was being reportedly transported in certain vehicles parked at the Siang Guest House, Pasighat.”

The Grand Old Party raised some blistering questions over the issue. “Was this cash reportedly transferred for PM Modi’s morning rally in Pasighat today? Is it not a clear cut case of ‘Chowkidar’ becoming ‘Chor’,” asked the party. “What is the BJP trying to hush up? Did PM Modi know about these stacks of cash being transferred,” asked another question in the statement. Arunachal Pradesh goes to poll on April 11 in the first phase of the Lok Sabha Elections. In 2014, Arunachal East was won by the Congress, whereas Arunachal West seat was won by the BJP.
