For Congress, OROP is 'One Rahul One Priyanka', says BJP chief Amit Shah in Himachal Pradesh's Una

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah today took a dig at Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's entry into politics and said that the grand old party, Congress, has a different definition for the OROP and for them it means "Only Rahul Only Priyanka". "When the BJP government was formed, within one-year Modiji delivered on his promise on One Rank One Pension (OROP). Modiji gave OROP to our jawans, the Congress gave 'Only Rahul Only Priyanka," Amit Shah said at a rally in Himachal Pradesh's Una.

He said that the BJP's OROP is aimed to benefit Indian soldiers, while Congress party's OROP is focused to strengthen one family only. Shah lauded Himachal Pradesh for contributing in the national forces. He said that first Param Veer Chakra holder belongs to this hill state and many other war heroes are the son of this soil.

"It is the Modi government that understood the pain of soldiers by implementing the OROP scheme that is One Rank One Pension, but Congress also brought OROP but it meant Only Rahul Only Priyanka," he said.

Amit Shah was addressing a gathering of around 40,000 BJP workers working as Panna Pramukhs from Hamirpur parliamentary constituency which is represented by BJP MP Anurag Thakur, the son of former BJP chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal from Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, BJP president Amit Shah scoffed at the proposed grand alliance of opposition parties as that of "greed and lust" and which has nine potential prime ministerial candidates. He claimed bringing in 20-25 leaders on one stage would not serve any purpose as Narendra Modi will become prime minister again.

He said that out of the 23 leaders, who attended the Brigade parade ground rally, nine of them were potential prime ministerial candidates. Shah, however, did not name anybody. "But, we have only one prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi," he said, three days after Brigade ground gathering of the opposition at Kolkata.

Shah, while kickstarting 'Ganatanatra Bachao Yatra' in Bengal, vowed to overthrow the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government in the state. Asserting that the Modi government was committed to legislating the Citizenship Bill, Shah wondered whether West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will support the bill or not.

After a passage in Lok Sabha, the Citizenship Bill awaits the crucial test in Rajya Sabha where the ruling NDA does not havea majority. He described the Trinamool Congress dispensation as a "government that facilitates murders" and said the party will be ousted in the general elections.

"Mahagathbandhan is all about greed and lust. They want to remove Modi, while we want to remove poverty and corruption. They want a 'majboor sarkar' (helpless government) so that they can engage in corruption. We want a 'majboot sarkar' (strong government) so that we can give a befitting reply to Pakistan. It is for the people to decide whether they want a 'majboot' or 'majboor' government," he said. "Mamata di should know that bringing together just 20-25 leaders on the same stage won't serve any purpose as people will again vote to re-elect Narendra Modi as prime minister. The 100 crore people of this country stand with Modi," he said.
