Gautam Gambhir, who is the BJP candidate from East Delhi for the ongoing Lok Sabha 2019 elections, has promised IPL matches will be held at the Yamuna Sports Complex in Anand Vihar in the near future. Releasing the vision document for East Delhi, Gambhir in an exclusive chat with News Nation said that the Yamuna Sports Complex has the potential to host the matches of the prestigious Indian Twenty20 league in the future. Inaugurated in 1999, the Yamuna Sports Complex is owned by the Delhi Development Authority and was a venue for the 2010 Commonwealth Games for archery and lawn bowls events. Apart from this, Gambhir also highlighted other issues that are currently plaguing East Delhi.
In the manifesto, Gambhir highlighted that people can easily connect with the former India cricketer through the launch of a new mobile app called Gautam. In addition, Gambhir highlighted that the cleaning of the Yamuna river was on priority in the vision document while sorting out issues related to the Ghzaipur landfill were also highlighted.

In an earlier interview to News Nation, Gambhir outlined his vision for East Delhi. “Delhi needs to be like Delhi... it cannot be like London or Paris. Clean water and air are basic requirements and we promise to give it to the people of Delhi. Till the time you don't give them basic things required on a daily basis, I don't think any other thing can be achieved. Like there is North Campus, we would like to develop East Campus in this constituency, it's is very important. Parking is also a big issue so we need to make multilevel parking which will ease traffic congestion. Gazipur landfill is another big issue that needs to be addressed and then we will try to take Metro to Kondli,” Gambhir said.
Recently, Gambhir was involved in a heated Twitter exchange with former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi over revelations in his autobiography ‘Game Changer’. Afridi had called Gambhir a cross between Don Bradman and James Bond and criticised his attitude. Gambhir responded on his Twitter handle to the jibe and has hilariously suggested that he will personally take Shahid Afridi to a psychiatrist for the comments. “...you are a hilarious man!!! Anyway, we are still granting visas to Pakistanis for medical tourism. I will personally take you to a psychiatrist,” Gambhir tweeted while tagging Afridi’s official handle as well.
