Cricketer-turned-politician and BJP Member of Parliament (MP) from the East Delhi constituency Gautam Gambhir on Saturday took an apparent dig at Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal over pamphlet row.
While addressing the media in national capital, Gautam Gambhir said, Main CM sahab ko bolna chahunga ki chunaav aenge-jaenge. Jis din aap apna zameer aur imaan haar jaenge us din sab haar jaenge. Ek seat jeetne ke liye agar aap aisa ghinona arop laga sakte hain to mere pas zyada shabd nahi hain un ke baare main baat karne ke liye (I want to tell CM that elections will come and go but the day you lose your integrity and conscience you will lose everything. If you can level such vulgar charges just to win one seat then I don’t have much to say to you.)”
It is to be noted that the allegation Gambhir was referring to was the one made by AAP in which the party alleged the BJP candidate had distributed pamphlets which maligned Atishi and outraged her modesty.

Days before the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, Atishi in a press conference burst into tears while reading a pamphlet containing "obscene and derogatory" remarks against her. She had alleged that the pamphlets containing derogatory remarks about her as well as her family were distributed by Gambhir at housing complexes in East Delhi. Following this, Atishi had complained to the National Commission for Women against Gambhir. Previously, Atishi had also charged Gambhir of having two electoral IDs.
However, both charges were denied by Gambhir repeatedly as he termed it negative campaigning against the positive message BJP was trying to spread. He had said, "I believe in PM Narendra Modi's leadership, his vision and in his work. I hope to work with as much dedication as he has. Negative politics and views do not concern me."
Gautam Gambhir cruised to a comfortable win from East Delhi seat as BJP swept Delhi.
