The Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party will sweep Himachal Pradesh in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, predicts News Nation’s Opinion Poll. The state of Himachal Pradesh has a total of 4 seats out of which the BJP is projected to win 3 seats whereas the Congress party is likely to get only one seat. As far as the vote share is concerned, the poll shows the BJP getting 41 per cent share, the Congress 35 per cent and others 8 per cent. In 2018, the BJP made a clean sweep in Himachal winning all the four Lok Sabha seats with a humongous margin. Former Himachal chief minister Shanta Kumar defeated Congress' Chander Kumar by 1,70,072 votes from the Kangra constituency. He polled 4,56,163 votes in comparison to Chander Kumar's 2,86,091 votes. The Congress received a major jolt in Mandi seat where BJP Ram Swaroop Sharma defeated the sitting Congress MP Pratibha Singh by 39,856 votes.

Through #NNOpinionPoll, when we asked 'who is the first choice for Prime Minister', 47 per cent of the people said Narendra Modi whereas Congress president Rahul Gandhi is at the second position with 35 per cent votes.

When asked about 'what would be the main issue for 2019 Lok Sabha elections'. The people of the state were of the view that inflation will be the most important (with 25 per cent vote share) thing that they will keep in mind while exercising their franchise. The other issues will be employment (20 per cent), corruption (10 per cent), drug abuse (9 per cent), GST-Demonetisation, farmer (5 per cent) and others (19 per cent).

The other important question was whether the people are satisfied with the work of the BJP government in the state. While replying to this, 41 per cent of them said they are not and 40 per cent said they are satisfied.

Similarly, 38 per cent of people are not happy with the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and only 45 per cent feel that it is doing a good job.

When asked about whether they are happy with the policies adopted by the government against China and Pakistan, 44 per cent of people said ‘Yes’, 33 per cent said ‘No’ and 23 per cent said ‘can’t say’.
