In mega Twitter appeal, PM urges Oppn, Bollywood and sport stars to encourage high voter turnout

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged opposition leaders namely Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Sharad Pawar, Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav and MK Stalin to encourage people for high voter participation. PM Modi took to Twitter and wrote, “I appeal to @RahulGandhi, @MamataOfficial, @PawarSpeaks, @Mayawati, @yadavakhilesh, @yadavtejashwi and @mkstalin to encourage increased voter participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. A high turnout augurs well for our democratic fabric.”

In a series of tweet, PM Modi also appealed leaders like K. Chandrashekar Rao, HD Kumaraswamy, Chandrababu Naidu and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to work towards bringing maximum Indians to the polling booths in the upcoming elections.

He also sought support of his alliance partners like Nitish Kumar and Ram Vilas Paswan for their active participation in improving voting across the country in the coming elections. “Let us strive to create an atmosphere where maximum voting can take place,” PM Modi tweeted.

To woo the young voters to cast their votes in the upcoming polls, PM Modi urged leaders like Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Chirag Paswan and Anurag Thakur to increase awareness among the youth on the importance of voting.

PM Modi also solicited the help of spiritual leaders like Sri Sri Ravishankar, Sadguru Jaggi Vashudev and Baba Ramdev to inspire people towards greater democratic participation.

“Dear @srikidambi, @Pvsindhu1 & @NSaina. The core of badminton is the court and the core of democracy is the vote.  Just like you smash records, do also inspire a record-breaking voter turnout. I request you to increase voter awareness & motivate youth to vote in large numbers,” tweeted PM Modi.

PM Modi asked Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Conrad Sangma and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to work towards making people of Northeast aware about the important of voting.

PM Modi tagged Bollywood celebrities like Varun Dhavan, Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal to motivate their fans to turn up with high josh and in big numbers to cast their votes.
