In Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj, Mayawati seeks votes for Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati on Thursday urged people to vote for Dimple Yadav, wife of Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, during a joint rally of the SP-BSP-RLD coalition in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj. Adressing a rally along with Akhilesh Yadva and RLD chief Ajit Singh, Maywati said that the Lok Sabha election 2019 will see the end of those chanting "Namo Namo".

"This election will see end of those chanting "Namo Namo", the BSP supremo said at the joint rally with the SP chief in Kannauj, from where Dimple Yadav is contesting the elections.

Earlier, Mayawati had sought votes for old rival and SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav during a joint rally in Mainpuri. The BSP chief shared the stage with Mulayam for the first time in more than two decades after the "guest house episode".

Dimple Yadav is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Kannauj, which was earlier being represented by her husband and SP cheif Akhilesh Yadav. Lok Sabha elections will begin on April 11 and polling would be held over seven phases through May 19, followed by counting of all votes on May 23.

The BSP supremo made a fervent appeal to the voters to re-elect SP candidate Dimple Yadav by pressing the 'Cycle' button. At the same time, she urged voters to ensure transfer of votes to BSP candidates fielded elsewhere as joint nominees of the alliance to ensure a clean sweep by the SP-BSP alliance in the state.
