On the 128th birth anniversary of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said it is the blessings of the father of Indian Constitution that a man from a deprived and exploited class is President, a man from a farmer's family is Vice President and a 'Chaiwala' is the PM.

Addressing a massive public rally in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh, Modi said he, while working for the country has always followed the path of Babasaheb Ambedkar and tried to give him the respect he deserves.

"We have run the government with the 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas' mantra, the path shown by Babasaheb Ambedkar," Modi was quoted as saying in Hindi.

Giving the list of achievements by the BJP-led NDA government in the last five years, Modi said under the Ujjwala Yojana and the Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana, free gas connection and houses have been provided and everyone has benefited from this.

"Under the good luck scheme every household has electricity connection, irrespective of their caste," he went on to claim further.

Hailing Ambedkar for his significant contribution to the country, the prime minister said, "We should never forget what has been done by Babasaheb Ambedkar - a great economist, a great policy-maker, a great writer, a great law-scholar".

Speaking to the masses, Modi further assured to develop five places connected to Babasaheb Ambedkar as 'Panchtirth' under the BJP-led government at the Centre.

In a blistering attack at the SP-BSP-RLD alliance in Uttar Pradesh, Modi asked, "Those who are not contesting on all 40 Lok Sabha seats (in the state), can they give a prime minister?"

In Uttar Pradesh, the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is contesting 38 Lok Sabha seats, while the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) has fielded candidates from 37 parliamentary constituencies.

There are three Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) candidates in the poll fray from the state. The alliance has left two seats of Rae Bareli and Amethi for the Congress.
