Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday claimed that Muslim votes in the national capital “shifted” to the Congress at the last moment during the Lok Sabha elections.
“Let us see what happens. Actually, chunaav ke 48 ghante pehle tak saaton seat lag raha tha Aam Aadmi Party ko aayengi. Last moment pe complete Muslim vote got shifted to Congress. Last night, the night before election. We are trying to figure out ki hua kya hai. Poora ka poora Muslim vote jo hai woh Congress ko shift ho gaya. They are 12-13 per cent. (Until 48 hours before polling, it seemed like all seven seats will come to AAP. But at the last moment, the complete Muslim vote got shifted to Congress. We are trying to figure out what happened),” Kejriwal was quoted by The Indian Express as saying when asked about how many seats the AAP would get in Delhi.
Exuding confidence about his party’s prospects in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, Kejriwal said that people will vote for AAP on the basis of work they have done.
Responding to Kejriwal’s claim of Muslim vote shift in the national capital, Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit said that every person has the right to vote the party they prefer and claimed that people did not like the former’s governance model.
“Don’t know what he is trying to say. Everyone has a right to vote
The allegation and counter-claim comes after the AAP and the Congress failed to forge an alliance for the Lok Sabha polls in Delhi, after the ruling party insisted on fighting elections together in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.
