The counting of votes for the high-stakes Lok Sabha elections is currently underway, bringing the performance of the ruling Congress in the two states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh under close scrutiny. The counting of votes will begin at 8 am and the first trends are expected by around 10 am.
While the Congress is buoyed by the victories in assembly polls in the last year last year, exit polls have predicted a dominance of the saffron party in both the states.
According to News Nation exit poll, the BJP is expected to win 23 of the 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh and seven of the 11 seats in Chhattisgarh. The Congress is likely to win the remaining six and four states in the two states respectively.
