The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday announced it will fight on 13 out of 14 seats in Jharkhand in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, while leaving one seat for its ally All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU).
The announcement was made by BJP general secretary Bhupender Yadav late on Friday night. According to sources, the AJSU will contest from Giridih seat.

Meanwhile, an opinion poll conducted by News Nation earlier in the day predicted victory on 10 seats for the BJP in the state in the upcoming general elections.
In 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, the BJP won 12 seats while the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) managed to win just seats -- Dumka and Rajmahal. The Congress and the JMM had forged an alliance in the state to take on the BJP but the Grand Old Party failed to open its account.
The 2014 election in Jharkhand was held in three phases on April 10, 17 and 24. The BJP received 52,07,439 votes with a vote share of 40.7 per cent and the JMM garnered 12,05,031 votes with a vote share of 9.4 per cent. The Congress received 17,24,740 votes with a vote share of 13.5 per cent. The JVM, the AJSU and the RJD received 15,67,655 (12.2%), 4,81,667 (3.80%) and 2,12,571 (1.7%) votes respectively.
