Lok Sabha elections: 69.45 per cent voter turnout in phase 1, 69.17 per cent in phase 2

Polling for the first and second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 witnessed 69.45 per cent and 69.17 per cent voter turnout, respectively.

Lok Sabha elections 2019 are being held in seven phases which started on April 11.

Polling for the first and second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 witnessed 69.45 per cent and 69.17 per cent voter turnout, respectively, according to the Election Commission of India. Voting for the 91 constituencies in first phase took place on April 11, while in the second phase 95 Lok Sabha seats spread across 11 seats and one union territory went to the polls on April 18.

In the second phase, moderate to high voter turnout was recorded in the 95 constituencies in 11 states and Puducherry that went to polls in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections which were marred by sporadic incidents of violence in West Bengal and Manipur and EVM glitches.

Lok Sabha polls are being held in seven-phases for 543 seats on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19, and counting will be on May 23.
