New Delhi:

The counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections 2019 is currently underway and the early trends show the NDA leaading on 310 of the 542 seats against the UPA which is leading on just 114 seats.

Here is the 10 AM report on trends/results of the Lok Sabha elections 2019:

BJP+: 310 | Congress: 114 | Others: 96

The trends show BJP leading with such massive difference which is unlikely to change in the official results, meaning that Narendra Modi is set to return as the prime minister, as already predicted by the exit polls. Moreover, the BJP has on its own crossed the majority mark of 272.

In Uttar Pradesh, the NDA is leading on 53 of the 80 seats while the SP-BSP alliance is leaading on 19 seats.

The saffron party is also leading in Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Bihar while it is giving tought competition to the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, as per initial trends.

In the 2014 elections, the BJP won 282 seats while the Congress had suffered a severe drubbing, getting an all-time low of 44 seats as against 206 it won in 2009.

Out of the 543 Lok Sabha seats, elections were held in 542 constituencies as the EC had cancelled polls to the Vellore constituency on the ground of excessive use of money power.
