Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday blocked cricketer-turned-BJP politician Gautam Gambhir on Twitter. This came after the two indulged in an argument on Articles 370 and 35A. Mehbooba had criticised the BJP over PIL filed in Delhi High Court seeking to ban Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and herself from contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“Why waste time in court. Wait for the BJP to scrap Article 370. It will automatically debar us from fighting elections since Indian constitution won’t be applicable to J&K anymore. Na samjho gay tou mit jaouge aye Hindustan walo. Tumhari dastaan tak bhi na hogi dastaano main (If you do not understand, o people of India, you will be erased. You would not have your tales written in history),” Mehbooba Mufti wrote on Twitter on Monday.
To this, Gautam Gambhir replied “Yeh Bharat hai. Koi aap jaisa dhabba nahi jo mit jayega (This is India. It’s not a blot like you are which can be erased).”
"Cricketers should stick to playing cricket. Why wade into politics especially when it comes to issues like Kashmir? They have no knowledge about it. Take your aggression to the field, and once you're done, hang your boots with grace. Disgraceful," Mehbooba Mufti tweeted.
“Most welcome @MehboobaMufti Ma’am, happy to be blocked by a callous individual. By the way, at the time of writing this tweet there are 1,365,386,456 Indians. How will you block them?” he asked.
The PDP chief took to Twitter again Tuesday to express that a cricketer should stick to cricket and shouldn't get into issues like Kashmir if they hold no knowledge about it.
"Take your aggression to the field and once you're done hang your boots with grace," she said.
Earlier, Gautam Gambhir argued with Omar Abdullah over separate Prime Minister for Jammu and Kashmir remark. Gautam Gambhir recommended a "green Pakistani passport" for Omar over his remarks.
