Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his "non-political interview" with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, saying that the PM spoke about mangoes and kurtas but remained mum on issues concerning the common people of the country.

Addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch, the Congress chief said, “Modi ji you tought us how to eat mangoes, how to cut kurta, now tell the country what you did for the jobless youth in your five years.”

In an interview with Kesari actor Akshya Kumar, Modi had expressed his love for mangoes and spoke about how he used to enjoy the summer fruit as a child. However, PM said, he needed to keep a tab on his diet.

Moving on to the PM's style statement, Kumar had asked Modi where his 'kurta-pyjama' and jacket trend begin from. In his response Modi had said that he removed the sleeves of his jackets in order to save space and that's how the trend began.

The prime minister was criticised by the opposition parties and ridiculed on social media for taking up “silly” questions while avoiding serious issues such as rising unemployment, poor GDP growth, and alleged corruption in Rafale deal.
